American Hustle and 12 Years a Slave led the way with seven nominations each Thursday in the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards.

Four cast members from Hustle were honored in musical/comedy categories, including Bradley Cooper (supporting actor), Christian Bale (actor), Amy Adams (actress) and Jennifer Lawrence (supporting actress). David O. Russell was nominated in the director category, and the movie is in the mix for best musical/comedy and best screenplay.

Others up for musical/comedy include Her, Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska and The Wolf of Wall Street.

In the drama categories, 12 Years' Chiwetel Ejifor (actor), Lupita Nyong'o (supporting actress) and Michael Fassbender (supporting actor) garnered nods, as well as Steve McQueen for best director. The film is also up for best screenplay as well as best drama against Captain Phillips, Gravity, Philomena and Rush.

Ejiofor will compete for best dramatic actor with Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club), Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips), Robert Redford (All is Lost) and Idris Elba (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom). Among the best actress nominations; Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Judi Dench (Philomena), Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks) and Kate Winslet (Labor Day).

Cooper and Fassbender are up for supporting actor vs. Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Daniel Bruhl (Rush) and Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club). The supporting actress category includes Lawrence, Nyong'o, Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine), Julia Roberts (August: Osage County) and June Squibb (Nebraska).
