CLEVELAND -- The 2013 Ohio Independent Film Festival begins Thursday, marking 20 years for the annual event.

The four-day festival will feature 9 feature-length films and 41 shorts from local, national and international filmmakers.

In the past, filmmakers whose projects have been featured at the festival have had their work picked up for distribution and some have even gone on to have successful Hollywood careers.

The event started in 1993 as the Off-Hollywood Flick Fest in a small store in Tremont. It has since grown to become one of the leading independent film showcases in Northeast Ohio.

The 2013 OIFF runs Nov. 7 through Nov. 10 at the Atlas Cinemas Lakeshore 7 in Euclid.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the box office or online at,, or
