Cedar Point opened Saturday after an exhaustive, cold winter to enthusiastic fans. "We're so excited.. I think after this long winter people are ready to get out… have some fun." Cedar Point's Bryan Edwards tells Hilary Golston.
"If you've got thrill seekers we've got some of the biggest best roller coasters in the world…but if you've got little kids too… still plenty of things for them to do," Edwards reports.
This year the amusement park added two family focused attractions in the Gemini Midway - the Lake Erie Eagles ride and the Pipe Scream. Each allows for 3ft and 3 1/2 ft. riders, respectively.
The additions help make the park more family friendly, by introducing more rides geared towards smaller children. "If you've got thrill seekers we've got some of the biggest best roller coasters in the world… but if you've got little kids too," Edwards says. There are "still plenty of things for them to do."
Channel 3 News found people who have been coming back to Cedar Point for several years. "It was opening day. We always come for opening day, every year for the past 17 years," B.J. Fox tells Golston. "We have season passes, we always want to be here when the park opens… see what's new… see what's exciting… and what's changed."
Cedar Point has also found ways to make the park more budget friendly, as well. There are admission deals at www.cedarpoint.com and a new all day meal plan. Visitors can pay once and eat all afternoon.
The crowds lined up on opening day at Cedar Point for their first ride on two new attractions, Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles. WKYC's Hilary Golston gives you a preview as she takes a spin on both of these highly anticipated new park additions.
