AKRON - A woman wanted in connection with a highway crash that injured a construction worker has been taken into custody.

Akron Police and the U.S. Marshals Office Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Tamika Perkins just after 9 a.m. this morning.

Marshals say she was found hiding behind the furnace in her basement on Hollinger Street.

Perkins had been wanted for felony hit skip, driving under a suspended license, driving on a closed road and failure to control.

On September 9, police allege she drove her SUV into a construction zone on I-77 North at Vernon Odom Boulevard and struck a worker before fleeing the scene.

Perkins has been booked into the Summit County Jail.
