Huntington Bank announces elimination of overdraft fee

Huntington Bank announced today that it will eliminate a $10 overdraft protection transfer fee for consumers and small businesses.

The bank started removing overdraft protection transfer fees in 2011. It will complete the final step in the process by eliminating business banking overdraft protection transfer fees.

Huntington customers can link from any account to a checking account as part of the overdraft protection program. If the customer or business overdrafts, money is pulled from that linked account to cover the loss.

The bank is thought to be one of few in the country to eliminate this fee.

Huntington says it will also debut a series of new commercials aimed at poking fun at how other banks treat their customers.
