Wale Aliyu joined the Channel 3 team in August 2014 after spending four years in Ohio. Wale moved to Cleveland after reporting, anchoring and producing for ABC 22/FOX 45 in Dayton.
Before Dayton, Wale started his career in Columbia, Missouri where he anchored for Newsy.com, reported for ABC 17/FOX 38 as well as KOMU-TV8.
Wale grew up in Columbia, Missouri and graduated Cum Laude with a Convergence/Broadcast Journalism degree from the University of Missouri.
Wale has worked several different jobs in the various newsrooms since the age of 15. In addition to broadcast, he also has experience reporting for newspaper, radio and online.
Wale says he's comfortable telling stories on any topic but his favorite stories are ones that make an impact on people's lives.
"One of the first television stories I ever did was on human trafficking back in 2007 while I was at KOMU-TV8," he said. "This was before anyone was really talking about it. In our little town of 100,000 people, we spoke to a human trafficking victim who was arrested for prostitution. Our story helped get her out of jail and helped spread awareness on a worldwide issue that had come to our town."
When he's not working, Wale enjoys playing basketball, writing and performing poetry, and loves to dance. Wale says he also loves to travel. He has been to 33 of the 50 states and a few different countries including Nigeria where he was born.
