AKRON -- In 1999, Frank McCloud pleaded guilty to child molestation in the state of Georgia. He was subsequently sentenced to 15 years and required to serve 7 years in prison.
Starting in 2006, McCloud was required to register as a Sex Offender in the state of Georgia. On October 2, 2013, the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force arrested McCloud on a "fugitive from justice" warrant, stemming from Georgia parole violations.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau received information that McCloud may have been using false identification to elude law enforcement.
An investigation into the matter was initiated by the Sheriff's Office's Sex Offender Unit.
It was determined that McCloud had been living in Ohio since 2011, using the name Glenn Barker. McCloud used a fraudulent birth certificate and other documents to obtain an Ohio State Identification Card.
On Tuesday morning, McCloud, 44, of Akron was charged with failure to register, tampering with records, and identity fraud -- all felonies.
He is now in jail in Georgia.
