CLEVELAND -- A 27-year-old man has died after an early morning shooting.

Cleveland Police say authorities were alerted after SouthPointe Hospital received a call that the victim was being brought to the emergency room by private auto.

Upon arrival, officers interviewed the person who drove the victim to the hospital. Preliminary investigation reveals that it was approximately 4:30 a.m. when the witness and victim were driving in the area of E. 116th and MLK when a suspect vehicle going in the opposite direction fired several rounds at them.

The victim died at the hospital around 5:30 a.m. His name has not been released.
