Shots fired at officers and local business, police searching area for suspect


WESTLAKE -- Part of Center Ridge Road closed earlier today as police combed the surrounding woods for a suspected shooter.

Shortly after noon on Saturday, shots were fired in the area, with one bullet striking a nearby business.

A total of five shots were fired. Police say the shots came from a car.

When officers arrived on the scene, a shot was also fired at them.

At the time, police cordoned off an area near the the Bradley Woods Reservation. They also shut down Center Ridge Rd. between Magnolia Pkwy. and Bradley Rd for a period of time.

Officers from area police departments responded to the scene including Bay Village, Lakewood, Fairview Park, North Olmsted, Rocky River, North Ridgeville, Metropark Rangers, the Southeast Enforcement Bureau, as well as K9s and mounted units.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol provided a helicopter to assist with the search.

No injuries are being reported.

Police continue to process the scene. They say ballistic information will be processed by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
