A 40-year-old man traveled the wrong way down I-480 and caused a fatal accident
CLEVELAND -- One person is dead and another in the hospital after a suspected drunk driver got on the I-480 freeway going the wrong way.
The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night. Using the W. 130th Street exit ramp, a vehicle got onto I-480 westbound travelling against traffic.
The vehicle then collided with a second car, causing a serious accident.
The driver of the second car was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with serious injuries. The passenger in the second car was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle traveling the wrong way, 40 year-old Julio Cesar Vargas, was arrested for aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault, after he was treated and released for minor injuries and a high level of intoxication.
OVI charges are expected.
