A proposal has been made to begin the Cleveland Metropolitan School District's 2014-2015 school year earlier
CLEVELAND -- Would you be in favor of an earlier start to the school year?
What about having your child in classes year-round?
Those topics are now up for discussion in Cleveland.
A public hearing is scheduled Tuesday night for the community to weigh in on a proposal to begin the Cleveland Metropolitan School District's 2014-2015 school year six days earlier.
The district CEO believes an early Aug. 13 start could serve as part of a transition to year-round classes.
The 2013-2014 school year began on Aug. 19, for most schools.
The meeting will be held at Mound-STEM PreK-8 School, 5935 Ackley Rd, at 6:30pm.
Currently, MC2STEM High School has a year-round schedule. Students alternate 10 weeks of classes with three-week breaks.
The board has to vote on a new calendar before May 1.
