CLEVELAND – PlayhouseSquare is seeing the possible with a number of big additions set for the theater district in 2014.

PlayhouseSquare is already the largest performing arts center outside of New York. Now it plans to take the playhouse experience to those outside.

Central to the plan is a 20-foot chandelier that will sparkle over Euclid Avenue.

"Our goal is to take the beauty of what you see in this magnificent lobby, with the chandeliers and the ornamentation, and really take the beauty outdoors," said Art Falco, PlayhouseSquare CEO.

The chandelier is being designed by engineers who are taking into account Cleveland's harsh winters, to make sure the light fixture will be able to shine for years to come.

It's going to be a symbol of excitement in Cleveland, " said Falco.

The plans don't stop there. PlayhouseSquare is also planning to install ornate gateways at each end of the district, and a large 24' tall by 8' wide video board on Star Plaza.

Star Plaza has already seen a number of upgrades including a new fire pit and the addition of Zack Bruell's Dynomite burger stand. More new restaurants are coming to PlayhouseSquare. Hofbrauhaus, a replica of a 400-year-old German beer hall and restaurant is set to open late next year.

The new additions at PlayhouseSquare will be unveiled during a block party on May 2nd.
