LAKEWOOD -- A Lakewood middle school student has a suspected, but as of yet, unconfirmed case of mumps.

A district spokeswoman says test results are still pending and not expected back until May 29.

The student attends Harding Middle School.

Parents were notified on May 19 and the school scrubbed down the next day.

The child did have the MMR vaccine, but the vaccine, according to health experts, is about 90% effective.

Ohio health officials have been dealing with an outbreak of mumps in central Ohio.
