School teaches them the ABCs, but do you know the four healthy Bs of back to school?
Dr. Richard So of the Cleveland Clinic stopped by the WKYC studios Monday morning to break down the four most important things to remember at the start of the school year.
- Children ages 5-12 need 10-11 hours of sleep. Teens need 8.5-9.5 hours of sleep.
- Since many schools don't offer a snack, health officials suggest a breakfast with more sustenance and protein.
- Health officials say you should assure your children it's OK to ask to be excused for a restroom break.
- Make sure there is no more than 20 percent of your child's body weight inside the backpack. Also use a backpack with two wide straps.
