Police continue search for child hit-and-run victim as the boy is laid to rest.


CLEVELAND -- Funeral services were held Saturday for a 5-year-old boy who died after being struck by an SUV while walking to catch a bus for school.

The service for Israel Thornton was held at the Second Calvary Baptist Church.

Police are still looking for the driver that fatally struck Israel and then fled.

A new wanted posted has been released. It shows two widely circulated images of the wanted vehicle. The poster describes the mid-sized SUV police are looking for as:

  • Newer model
  • White, silver or LT grey in color
  • Four door
  • No luggage rack
  • Somewhat of a rounded front end
  • Tapered rear window

Israel died on October 25 after being hit as he walked to a bus stop at West 37th and Denison.
