CLEVELAND -- It was cold and the wind was blowing but thousands of runners took to the streets of Cleveland Thanksgiving morning for the 32nd annual Cleveland Turkey Trot.

They gathered at Cleveland's Public Hall for the 5-mile run as well as the 1-Mile Fun run.

Singing the National Anthem at the start of the 5-Mile race was Carrie Vieweg, a McDonald's crewperson from Concord Township, who has a chance to advance to the Voice of McDonald's global competition in Orlando, Florida in April 2014.

There were also refreshments, ribbons given to all participants in the 1-mile fun run and costume contests.

Random prizes given out were pumpkin pies, gift cards and Fleet Feet discounts.

Leading the 1-Mile Fun Run was Sully, the Lake Erie Monsters mascot and members of the Monster Dance Team.

Know that the Cleveland Turkey Trot, along with 20 plus other turkey trots in 15 states, teamed up with BSX Athletics from Houston, Texas to unite runners and bring the Guinness World Book of Records title for the "Most Participants in a Multi-Venue Race" back to the United States.

They needed more than 116,086 participants. to break the record currently held by Malaysia.
