BARBERTON -- Police have charged two people they say cooperated to drug and rape a juvenile and then photograph the sexual assault.
Cecilia D. Lower, 30, of Barberton, is charged with raping a victim under 13, rape after administering a drug of abuse and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Jacob L. Singleton, 33, of New Franklin, is charged with complicity to rape a victim under 13 and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Barberton police say Singleton stole the drug Trazadone, which is a prescription sleeping aid and antidepressent, from a family member.
They say he then gave the drug to Lower and directed her to administer it to the juvenile, engage the child in sexual contact, photograph the events and forward the photos to him.
Police say it was learned the drug was given to at least one other juvenile.
Search warrants executed at Lower's and Singleton's homes resulted in the seizure of cell phones, sexual stimulation devices, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The investigation is ongoing, and further charges are pending.
Both appeared in Barberton Municipal Court and were given bonds of $1 million before being transferred to the Summit County Jail. Singleton is set to appear in court again Wednesday.
