CONNEAUT, Ohio -- A 38-foot personal boat that ran aground on a breakwall at Conneaut Harbor on Tuesday sank Thursday before the owner was able to salvage it.
The Coast Guard Station in Ashtabula was notified of the incident at 4:30 Tuesday.
On Thursday, a Coast Guard response crew was dispatched to verify the boat was still on the wall. When the crew arrived, the boat had already broken up and sunk.
Three people were on the boat when it ran aground. None of them were injured.
Members of Cleveland's Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit will open a federal case and make arrangements with a contractor to remove any pollutants from the water.
