UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- Two men were hospitalized early Monday after reports of shots fired at a party in University Heights.
Police began receiving calls of multiple shots fired about 12:40 a.m. in the area of Canterbury Road and Meadowbrook Boulevard.
Officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to Hillcrest Hospital.
Simultaneously, South Euclid police officers located a man in a vehicle at 14329 Cedar Road with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was also taken to Hillcrest.
According to a letter sent to homes in the neighborhood by University Heights Mayor Susan Infeld, both men are 19. One is from Cleveland Heights, and one is from Beachwood.
Investigation revealed that there was a social gathering at 3641 Meadowbrook when several uninvited guests arrived.
The presence of these individuals led to a verbal and then a physical confrontation, according to police.
During the course of the confrontation, one or more people produced firearms and fired several shots, leading to the two being shot.
