A second man remains in critical condition

SHEFFIELD -- One man hurt following a head-on crash on Interstate 90 Tuesday is improving, according to a hospital spokesman.

Adam Couture, 21, of Massachusetts, who was on his way home from visiting a friend in Michigan, has been upgraded to good condition. He was initially listed in critical condition.

WKYC crews at the scene Tuesday reported three vehicles were involved. Two vehicles were traveling westbound on I-90 just west of state Route 611 when one bumped into the other about 10:30 a.m.

One of those two vehicles, a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Kevin McCue, 25, of Cleveland, crossed the grass median and struck an eastbound vehicle, a Chevy Cruze driven by Couture. McCue remains in critical condition.

Couture turned 21 on Sunday. Couture, who is in the National Guard, is a straight-A student at Mount Wachusett College in Gardner, Mass.

Our WKYC crew said there was military-type debris, such as fatigues and backpacks, all over the highway.

Two helicopters landed and both drivers were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center.

The roadway was closed for more than two hours.
