BRIMFIELD – The Portage County Water Rescue Team helped bring a stranded swimmer to shore Thursday night.

According to a post on the Brimfield Police Facebook page, a man decided to take a swim in the reservoir and ended up exhausted, nearly hypothermic and stranded on one of the small islands in the reservoir. Too tired to swim back, the Water Rescue Team took a boat out to bring the man in to shore.

Suffield and Brimfield fire departments all assisted.

The Brimfield chief writes on Facebook of the rescue, "...do not take off swimming, in the dark, in a huge lake. Life sometimes ends immediately after a bad decision, so make good decisions."
