CUYAHOGA FALLS -- A popular summer concert series is looking for a new home.
The final Rockin' on the River concert in Cuyahoga Falls will take place Aug. 29. The event will continue at a new location in 2015.
Earlier this month, WKYC's Sara Shookman first reported on the possibility that Rockin' on the River would be done in Cuyahoga Falls.
Following several weeks of conversations with the City of Cuyahoga Falls, the promoters of the event, Bob and Sandy Earley issued the following statement Tuesday evening:
We sincerely want to thank all of you who have supported the fight to keep Rockin' on the River in Cuyahoga Falls. But while talking to the chairman of the new festival committee this week, we were informed that there will be several changes for the 2015 season pertaining to the Friday night concert series. These include shortening of hours and committee input on both entertainment and vendors. Because we fund the entire event, we find this unacceptable. It is therefore obvious to us that it's time to find a new home. We have enjoyed our time in Cuyahoga Falls and look forward to letting you know where we will be in 2015. The last Rockin' on the River in Cuyahoga Falls will be August 29th. Come celebrate these last 2 weeks with us!
The event would draw upwards of 6,000 people every Friday during the summer months.
The Rockin' on the River Facebook page was filled with comments from fans expressing their sadness with the news.
It's unclear which location Rockin' on the River organizers will take their event. A decision is expected to be made by October.
