CLEVELAND -- At the request of Art Modell's family, there will be no public recognition at today's Cleveland Browns home opener.

According to the Cleveland Browns, the tribute that was planned torecognize Modell at Sunday's gamehas been cancelled.

The decision came at the request of Modell's family.

Modell died on Thursday at the age of 87 in a Baltimore hospital.

He owned the Browns from 1961-1995. He then moved the franchise to Baltimore.

Many fans in Cleveland have not forgiven or forgotten Modell's move that left the city without a football team for several seasons.
