Cleveland Cavaliers forward Anthony Bennett ended a frustrating season on a positive note Wednesday.

After missing nearly two months in the second half of the season because of a knee injury, Cleveland Cavaliers small forward Anthony Bennett returned to the court in the 2013-2014 regular-season finale, a 114-85 win over the Brooklyn Nets at Quicken Loans Arena Wednesday night.

Bennett ended his rookie season on a positive note when he scored seven points and added seven rebounds in the win over the Nets.

"I just wanted to finish the season on a good note," Bennett said. "I've kind of been struggling through injuries for the past month-and-a-half. I just wanted to come out here and give it my all.

"I'm encouraged, for sure. I learned a lot, especially with my teammates helping me out throughout the year, the coaching staff too. I'll just go into the summer working on my game."

Bennett was the first overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft out of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, but offseason shoulder surgery prevented him from coming into training camp in playing shape.

The inability to work out led to early offensive struggles for Bennett, who took several games to score his first NBA basket.

"I feel like with the shoulder surgery and missing the whole summer, it kind of set me back, so I'm just trying to get back on track," Bennett said. "It's a business. That's the most important thing. It's a business. Things can go right one day, and you've just got to stay on top of your game. I'm always in the gym and just keep working.

"The first month or two (was difficult), but I've got teammates around that told me to keep my head and everything will turn pretty soon."

Bennett averaged 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds over 52 games, and said he plans on spending all summer "just working out" in an effort to come into training camp ready to make a difference for the Cavaliers and be a "great" NBA player.

"I've just got to go out there and give it my all during the workouts," Bennett said. "I can't point out one, specific thing, but just be a great player all around, always encouraging my teammates, making myself and everyone around me better."
