The NBA Finals begin Thursday night. We'll have to play the series to crown the champion, but the biggest winner will be the NBA.

This is the perfect NBA Finals. The Heat and Spurs rematch will finally give the league the spotlight it needs.

You have the best player in the game in LeBron against what has been the model franchise for the past 10-15 years.

Look at the state of the NBA. The regular season was weighted down with parity issues, blowout games and a very weak Eastern Conference. Then the playoffs started. Great games that went down to the buzzer, overtime, rivalries, but that all took a back seat to Donald Sterling, racism and the selling of a franchise.

The NBA deserves better and it now has it. LeBron and the Heat are going for the three-peat, and you have the rematch against the Spurs who want revenge.

This is Star Wars all over again. It's the Evil Empire against the good guys from San Antonio. This is about excellence. Teams like the Cavs need to watch and learn from this series. This is what you should be striving for. Not lottery picks and hoping to make the playoffs.

I like the Spurs to win the series. Better team, better coach, tougher road to get here, and the fire from losing last year. But I would never count out LeBron. Either way, this should be a classic. And it's just what the NBA needs.
