It was a wicked winter of polar vortexes and swirling snow storms.

Mother Nature definitely had a bad attitude this winter.

Today, we get to say our goodbyes to the winter season until Dec. 21 as spring officially arrives at 12:57 p.m.

As spring blossoms, it comes the Vernal Equinox.

This is when the sun is directly above the earth's equator, meaning the day and night are of equal length.

This occurs just twice a year.
